This carousel horse at the Shelburne Museum had a thick, darkened coating of

linseed oil that obscured the original paint.

The removal of the linseed oil made the bright colors of the original paint visible

again. The brass details on the harness were also polished, and the horsehair tail

was washed to remove years of dirt and grime.
